How it works

The Trusts are giving back another one million dollars to community groups and projects all over West Auckland.

The Trusts panel will choose the most deserving groups over the next 10 weeks, then we’ll announce these projects to the community on the 12th of February 2018. From the 1st of March 2018 the public will vote for their favourite project.

Every vote will count for $5.

Who are The Trusts?

The Trusts is a community organisation owned by the people of West Auckland. We exist to sell alcohol responsibly through our retail stores and hospitality venues and return surplus profits to the community in the form of grants, donations, sponsorships, rebates and household items. Where does the money come from?

The million dollars is part of The Trusts Giving Back to the West Auckland community. The money is taken directly from profits made in our retail stores and hospitality venues in West Auckland. It does not come from gaming money.

How do I know if I’m eligible to apply?

What type of things can I apply for?

Items must be entirely relevant to your organisation, projects or purposes.

When do applications close?

Applications must be received on or before 5pm on Friday the 1st of December 2017.

Who will be reviewing my application?

The review panel will consist of a selection of Elected Members and/or independent people The Trusts may appoint.

How will I know if my application is successful?

Successful applicants will receive an email on or before Monday the 12 February 2018.

When does voting take place?

Voting opens on 1 March 2018.

How many times can I vote?

As many times as you like. Everyone gets one vote each day from Wednesday 1 March 2018.

Can my friends vote?

Absolutely. Encourage as many people as you can to vote for your organisation.

How much funding will I receive?

You will receive $5 for every vote you receive in the voting phase. The maximum amount of funding you receive will be the amount entered on your application form.

When will I receive my funding?

The Trusts will present you with a cheque before the end of May 2018.

Can I apply for funding for items that have already been purchased or work that’s already done?

Unfortunately not, these items will be deemed “retrospective”.

Can I apply for funding if my organisation was a recipient of funding in the last Million Dollar Mission?

Yes, but not for the same project.
